My question for HN -> what do you use to build your dashboard? Also curious to know what do you include in your dashboards? [ screenshots welcome (-: ]
I know that big companies like Facebook have built their own solutions but curious to see what other companies use. For example, I recently came across Stripe's Home (https://stripe.com/blog/stripe-home), which seems to be their own internal version of a wiki/intranet.
Curious to hear about what solutions you've considered and/or what you like/dislike about what your company currently uses(:
Edit: Some people apparently just use Notion and/or nothing and just share docs with each other. Also curious to know if this is your experience
1. I wish the startup I work at allowed me to choose my own perks
"A lot of the office perks I get at work are kind of useless. I wish that I could choose my own perks like free Spotify and Netflix rather than some obscure 'wellness benefit' that I have to remember to expense to get a reimbursement."
2. There's no good software for managing a campaign and running for office.
If you're someone young like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, it's hard to figure out how to run for office and manage a campaign. NationBuilder is the legacy player in the space you can tell it's not a mobile or video native product (doesn't natively support YouTube, Insta, Snapchat, etc.). Another problem is that this software costs some real money so playing around with the business model might unlock substantial value (e.g., charge a % of $ raised).
3. A dedicated social network for memes is something that doesn't exist
My Instagram is now a basically feed of memes but Instagram itself was not built for this purpose. It’s impossible to create memes on Instagram so creators use other tools, import them to Insta and do a similar process for people that send them memes to upload to their accounts. I think 9gag might have been too early to the game but right now feels like the perfect time.
4. We need a way to process cannabis payments! Processing cannabis payments is too bureaucratic
"I just found out that Stripe will not process CBD payments. I love Stripe, and sure there are many reasons this is the case. But doesn’t this seem crazy in 2019? I can buy CBD products at almost every corner store in Los Angeles, including CVS and Walgreens."
Houston - https://houston.substack.com/
I wanted to share it on here as well since ya'll might find it useful to find great problems to work on and build businesses around that!
What is it? Houston is a weekly newsletter with a curated list of interesting problems that people have but have struggled to solve. The idea is that with time Houston becomes a repository of great business opportunities for entrepreneurs that are not sure where to start or don't have a great idea that they're passionate about.
Why did you do this? I created Houston because as a future entrepreneur I've personally struggled with finding good problems to solve. I keep hearing that you need to solve a problem that you yourself have but frankly after thinking long and hard I haven't really being able to come with an idea that I think can one day become a great company. Ironically this motivated me to create Houston.
Sign up and submit your own problems via Twitter with the hashtag #HoustonWHAP or by email to get featured in next week's newsletter! Let me know if you have any questions(:
P.S.: I am calling this project Houston as in "Houston, we have a problem". I thought it was clever ¯\(ツ)/¯
